Overdrive

Conan Gray New Music Premiere

Three years ago, Conan Gray stepped out on to the mainstream music scene with a collection of emotional hits that set the blogsphere ablaze. The singer-songwriter left a lasting impression with a dream-pop EP that reached critical acclaim. Two years later, he returned to quench the thirst of his supporters with his first full length album, Kid Krow.

Now, he’s back with a brand new single. It’s a synth-pop song called “Overdrive.” This

composition is about kicking a relationship into a higher gear—regardless of labels. Musically, this track sounds like a sequel to “Jealous” by Nick Jonas. But lyrically, it’s a lot more fun and aggressive. When the singer says: “All or nothing, let’s just trust the night,” in the pre-chorus section—it sets the stage for an exhilarating audiovisual ride that last all of three minutes and three seconds.

If you’re content with being stuck in the “friendzone,” this song is not for you. This track is for lovers. The ones who dare to throw their caution to the wind, in the name of hopeless romance and good fun.

All in all, “Overdrive” is an exciting lead single by Conan Gray. And hopefully it’s a prelude to an upcoming sophomore album from the Texan native.
