Fifth Harmony announced via Twitter that they will be taking a break from the band to pursue solo careers. The group was formed in 2012 on “The X Factor” by Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui and Camila Cabello before left in 2016 to launched her solo career.
Brooke, Kordei, Jane, and Jauregui shared, “Reflecting on the past six years since we started on X Factor, we’ve realized just how far we’ve come and we appreciate everything so much, more now than ever.” The statement continues, “After six years going hard, non-stop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we need to take some time for now to go on hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors.” The message goes on, “In doing this we are allowing ourselves to gain new experiences, strengths and perspectives that we can bring back to our Fifth Harmony Family.”
The decision comes as no surprise given the members’ latest solo work. Last month, Kordei released a single with Khalid called “Love Lies”. In January, Brooke was featured in the song “Perfect” with DJ Topic and it was revealed that she signed as a solo artist with Larry Rudolph, who manages Fifth Harmony. That same month Jauregui signed a solo deal with Columbia Records and had previously collaborated with Halsey and Steve Aoki. Jane also did her own work in October with Daddy Yankee, French Montana and Red One on the song “Boom Boom”.
Fifth Harmony has upcoming shows at the end of the year which they still plan on performing. We wish them the best in their journey as solo artists.
