My Dear Melancholy

March 31, 2018

On Thursday night, The Weekend released his new EP My Dear Melancholy,. His latest

project is composed of 6 tracks. Fans think the new album is about the singer’s ex

girlfriends, Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid.

The song “Call Out My Name” is said to be about Selena because he sings, “We found

each other/ I helped you out of a broken place/You gave me comfort/ But falling for you

was my mistake.”

The Weeknd dated Selena Gomez for 10 months and called it quits last October. After the

two ended their relationship she began dating ex boyfriend Justin Bieber again. The

singer seemed to be hurt.

He continues, “I said I didn’t feel nothing baby, but I lied/ I almost cut a piece of myself

for your life/ Guess I was just another pit stop/ ‘Til you made up your mind/ You just

wasted my time”.

People think The Weekend is referring about Gomez’s kidney transplant.

In “Wasted Times” he sings, “Wasted times I spent with someone else/ She wasn’t even

half of you/ Reminiscin’ how you felt.” He continues with, “You were equestrian, so ride

it like a champion.”

Canadian singer dated supermodel Bella Hadid in 2015-2016. The lyrics mentions

“equestrian”, Hadid enjoys horseback riding on her free time.

The Weeknd has been heartbroken from his previous relationships. In My Dear

Melancholy, he expresses his emotions. The album has a similar sound to his previous

mixtape, “House of Balloons.”

Weeknd fans love the new album and said they’ve been

waiting for the singer to release similar songs to his old mixtapes.

The Weeknd worked alongside French Dj Gesaffeelstein. The Album features songs,

“Call Out My Name”, “Try Me”, Wasted Times”, “I Was Never There”, “Hurt You”, and

“Privilege.”

If you ended a relationship and weren’t crying, you’ll be crying after hearing My Dear

Melancholy,!
